We the staff of St Patrick’s acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.
We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.
We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.
John 2:13-22
Destroy this sanctuary and in three days I will raise it up
Just before the Jewish Passover Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and pigeons, and the money changers sitting at their counters there. Making a whip out of some cord, he drove them all out of the Temple, cattle and sheep as well, scattered the money changers’ coins, knocked their tables over and said to the pigeon-sellers, ‘Take all this out of here and stop turning my Father’s house into a market.’ Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: Zeal for your house will devour me. The Jews intervened and said, ‘What sign can you show us to justify what you have done?’ Jesus answered, ‘Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.’ The Jews replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary: are you going to raise it up in three days?’ But he was speaking of the sanctuary that was his body, and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the words he had said.
4PA Class Newsletter
Hello St Pat’s Community,
This term for Inquiry, the Year 4s have been learning about the continent of Africa and all its countries. We have researched information on Africa including its famous rivers, mountains, rainforests, and the climate in each of its different countries.
In Week 3 we had two African drummers show us how to play African drums. They taught us the three ways to strike the head in djembe drumming: slap, bass, and tone. At the end of the session, they played the drums while we danced.

In Week 4, Sister Julie visited to teach us about Nigeria, a country in Africa. Sister Julie was born in Nigeria, and became a teacher then a principal. She told us about the capital city of Abuja, the flag, population, music, celebrations, clothing and the climate. We asked her lots of questions at the end of her presentation. We enjoyed listening to Sister Julie.

In Week 5, some Year 4 and 5 girls volunteered to demonstrate a women's dance and then taught our classes how to do the dance to Jerusalema. It was interesting to watch and even more interesting to try.

This term in Writing we have been learning about different forms of poetry, such as, haiku, cinquain, acrostic, shape, and limericks. We had fun experimenting with writing in these styles and covering a variety of topics. Here are some examples of our poems:

From everyone in 4PA we wish you all a lovely weekend!
