We the staff of St Patrick’s acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.
We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.
We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.
Luke 19:41-44
Jesus sheds tears over the coming fate of Jerusalem
As Jesus drew near Jerusalem and came in sight of the city he shed tears over it and said, ‘If you in your turn had only understood on this day the message of peace! But, alas, it is hidden from your eyes! Yes, a time is coming when your enemies will raise fortifications all round you, when they will encircle you and hem you in on every side; they will dash you and the children inside your walls to the ground; they will leave not one stone standing on another within you – and all because you did not recognise your opportunity when God offered it!’

Reading/Inquiry -
In this term, we have been reading a book called George's Secret Key to the Universe. The book is about a kid named George who had Earth activist parents and one day decides to visit his neighbours house because his dad told him not to go there. He finds himself a friend called Annie and her dad Eric, who is a scientist. He has the world's most powerful computer called Cosmos which can send them into space. But there is a common enemy between George and Eric named Dr. Reaper which seems not nice but is nice to George once he finds out that George knows Eric. Dr. Reaper plots a plan to steal Cosmos for himself.
We are reading this book because we have been learning about Space in Inquiry. We have learnt about our place in the solar system and about different celestial objects.
We have used Space as some inspiration for artworks:

Writing - Poetry
This term we have been reading and learning about different types of poems, including Limericks, Ballads, Belonging to me poems, etc. We learned that couplets are usually used in songs without us knowing. In case you didn't know, Couplets are poems that have 2 lines and the same syllables in each line. We read a poem called “The man from Snowy River, which was made by Banjo Paterson, and made in 1982. Attached are some of the Ballads that we have done.
Maths
In Maths, we have learnt about all the different types of measurement. The types of measurement we have learnt about are mass, volume and capacity, length, area and perimeter and many more. We have also learnt about time. In time, we explored 24 hour time and in 24 hour time, our school day looks like this:
- We start the day at 9:00
- We go out for recess at 11:00
- We go out for Lunch 13:30
- Then we go home at 15:10.
After that, we most recently moved on to chance. In chance, we got smarties because we were doing an experiment about which colour smarties were in our box and how likely the colours were. At the end of the lesson, we got to eat the smarties.
