We the staff of St Patrick’s acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.

We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.

We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.

Gospel of the Week

John 12:23-28

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

If a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it yields a rich harvest.

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘Now the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you, most solemnly, unless a wheat grain falls on the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest. Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it for the eternal life. If a man serves me, he must follow me, wherever I am my servant will be there too. If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him. Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say: Father, save me from this hour? But it is for this very reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name!’

A voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.’

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

This morning, I had the honour of attending the Dawn Service at the Pakenham Library. Our 4 school captains came along with Belinda Couch to lay a wreath and pay our respects to the many soldiers who lost their lives, in order to protect the freedom we have now. Please see the photos attached.

It was an incredibly moving service and it was attended by hundreds of people, many of whom were young families. How wonderful to know that our community wants to ensure that we never forget the sacrifices that are made by the thousands of men and women, not only from past wars, but in many that continue to be fought today.

We ask God to bless and keep the brave and to always remember what their sacrifice means to us.

I hope today that we can all reflect on the simple things we take for granted. A hand to hold, someone to love, a bowl of food and peace.

The Ode

They shall grow not old,

As we that are left to grow old;

Age shall not weary them,

Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Lest we Forget

Take care and God Bless,

Meg
