We the staff of St Patrick’s acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.

We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.

We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.

Mark 4:26-34

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark

The mustard seed, the smallest of all the seeds, grows into the biggest shrub of all.

Jesus said to the crowds, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man throws seed on the land. Night and day, while he sleeps, when he is awake, the seed is sprouting and growing; how, he does not know. Of its own accord the land produces first the shoot, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the crop is ready, he loses no time; he starts to reap because the harvest has come.’

He also said, ‘What can we say the kingdom of God is like? What parable can we find for it? It is like a mustard seed which at the time of its sowing in the soil is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them all and puts out big branches so that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade.’

Using many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, so far as they were capable of understanding it. He would not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything to his disciples when they were alone.

5SA's Class Newsletter

One of the highlights of this semester had been the visit by an Australian Author Adam Wallace. Here is a reflection by Maeva

On the 7th of May, An Australian author named Adam Wallace visited the Year 5 classes. He did some drawing challenges with us and told us how he got his ideas for his characters/books.

He also showed us his new book: Numbskull and Nincompoop. We did 3 challenges and for each one, we had to change how we drew and had to draw random stuff. In the end, he showed us steps on how to draw a Brontosaurus with details, backgrounds, and facial expressions. At the very end, we asked him some questions about writing books and then he left.

Buddy Program

We are buddies to FKG. Monday of alternate weeks we meet with our buddies and do some interesting activities with them. One of the activities was creating a friendly monster and telling a story about it. Here are some monsters we created.

We visited SFX to get a taste of high school Life. We were greeted by a few teachers and student leaders who are ex-students of St. Patrick’s. Decorating a cookie, making slime in the laboratory and playing in the Gymnasium were the activities we participated. It was awesome!
