In Year 4MR we have been learning about ‘Creation’. We read the creation story from our Christian Bible from the book of Genesis. We learned that God created all things and that He continues to create. We learned that God said that all of creation is ‘good’ but when he created humankind, He said that it was ‘VERY’ good. We learned that the true message of Genesis is not what God created on day 1 or day 2 or day 3, the message of Genesis is THAT GOD CREATED and CONTINUES TO CREATE!!

We looked at the Aboriginal Dream story, Bunjil the Creator. We looked at the language that was the same in both stories and the creation ideas as we listened to this Dreaming story of Bunjil. We completed this learning by drawing pictures of creation according to the Dreaming by using Aboriginal style art.

We also looked at the creation stories from other cultures that make up 4RM. We learned a bit about Buddhism and Hinduism.

After learning a little about Hinduism and Vishnu the creator we researched other deities connected to Hinduism.

We learned that in Buddhism there is no creator. In the Buddhist cultural tradition the belief is that creation has always existed and all of creation is a part of a life cycle. Buddhists also believe, as part of this life cycle that how you lived your life yesterday effects how you live your life today and how you live your life today effects what happens tomorrow.
