Gospel of the Week

Luke 12:35-40

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

See that you are prepared.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘See that you are dressed for action and have your lamps lit. Be like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks. Happy those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. I tell you solemnly, he will put on an apron, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch he comes, or in the third, but happy those servants if he finds them ready. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what hour the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

This week the Gospel tell us to be ready for the Lord's return, you cannot simply choose a time to be ready but rather must be ready at all times. The Lord's return will be at an unexpected time. God doesn't tell us when Jesus will return to motivate us to faithfulness and diligence as a lifestyle.

In Luke 12:35-48, Jesus presents three parables that illuminate this dual call to action, urging us to be vigilant, faithful stewards of His teachings, and ever-prepared for His return. Jesus is saying to us that if we are faithful to him, if we are attentive to the various ways that he comes and knocks on the door of our lives, he will serve us in ways that will amaze us. In giving to the Lord, we will receive from him in greater abundance.

Luke 12:35–40 explains that those who wish to live in God's kingdom need to be ready for its arrival. Jesus has told His disciples to hold their integrity more tightly than their lives (Luke 12:1–12). He has taught them to not worry about wealth or even the necessities of life. It is funny though, I think this is often what we do think about the most and not what the Lord will give us later when we meet him fact to face and the ultimate joy that will be.

As of next week, The Avenue carpark will have undergone a major reconstruction. The whole carpark will now be one way only and all angle parking, which means there is NO REVERSE PARKING.

Also, there will be a crossing from the carpark to the school that all families must use. There will also be a clear NO CROSSING zone as well which must be obeyed at all times. Please ensure that you continue to follow the rules in the carpark. We have had many near misses of late and the safety of your children is pinnacle to these changes happening.

This week, we also have had shade sails installed over our sandpit and our soon to be Sensory Garden. Thank you to Yoke Teow, Nola Killeen & Emily Talbot for their help in getting this garden up and running.

Next week we look forward to our Book Week parade which is being held next Wednesday the 20th in the stadium at 9am. The Book Week theme for 2025 is "Book an Adventure", according to the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA)This theme encourages children to explore new worlds, meet unforgettable characters, and unlock their imaginations through reading. It also celebrates the 80th anniversary of Children's Book Week. Please see below for further details

Preparations for 2026

At St Patrick’s we continue to have school tours coming through for this year and 2027 which is great and next year, we welcome many new families to our community. This term, I will begin planning for 2026. It is during this term that I ask parents to put in writing any issues they would like to raise with me in terms of the new academic year. I wish to make this very clear that requests made by parents for particular staff etc will NOT be guaranteed. I would like to emphasize that the staff of St Patrick’s do an amazing job and are valuable entities in your child’s education, and I will not entertain any idea of ‘teacher shopping’. As professionals, we base the decisions on your child’s placement very carefully and there is serious consideration put into this each year.

This communication does need to be sent to me by the end of Term 3. Any requests made later than this may not be considered. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Thank you and God Bless,

Meg
