We the staff of St Patrick’s acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.

We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.

We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.

Matthew 18:21-19:1

'How often must I forgive my brother?'

Peter went up to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times.
‘And so the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who decided to settle his accounts with his servants. When the reckoning began, they brought him a man who owed ten thousand talents; but he had no means of paying, so his master gave orders that he should be sold, together with his wife and children and all his possessions, to meet the debt. At this, the servant threw himself down at his master’s feet. “Give me time” he said “and I will pay the whole sum.” And the servant’s master felt so sorry for him that he let him go and cancelled the debt. Now as this servant went out, he happened to meet a fellow servant who owed him one hundred denarii; and he seized him by the throat and began to throttle him. “Pay what you owe me” he said. His fellow servant fell at his feet and implored him, saying, “Give me time and I will pay you.” But the other would not agree; on the contrary, he had him thrown into prison till he should pay the debt. His fellow servants were deeply distressed when they saw what had happened, and they went to their master and reported the whole affair to him. Then the master sent for him. “You wicked servant,” he said “I cancelled all that debt of yours when you appealed to me. Were you not bound, then, to have pity on your fellow servant just as I had pity on you?” And in his anger the master handed him over to the torturers till he should pay all his debt. And that is how my heavenly Father will deal with you unless you each forgive your brother from your heart.’
Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and he left Galilee and came into the part of Judaea which is on the far side of the Jordan.

Welcome to 4JV’s Newsletter!

It has been an exciting time for us over the last week as we have moved into our newly renovated classroom. Our room is beautiful and new with a lot of space to spread out and complete our learning. Here are some photos of us in our new classroom.

This term in our Inquiry lessons we have been learning about the different forms of early contact between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and early traders, explorers and settlers. Our focus has been on developing an understanding of multiple perspectives and an empathetic understanding of the events that happened at the time.

The students have learnt that Aboriginal people from northern Australia used to trade with the Makassar people from Indonesia. They then read about some of the early explorers from Europe who came to Australia. At the moment, the students are learning about some of the Aboriginal people who were prominent at the time of early British settlement. Please see some of the things that they discovered below.

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

This week, I announced to my staff and the students in Year 6, that Mrs Donna Ward and Mrs Lisa McDonald will be taking over 6RM, formerly Mrs Rosa Mitchell’s class, for the remainder of the school year. Unfortunately, our school has been affected by the teacher shortage issues, however, once again, the staff of St Patrick’s school have stood up and are wanting to support our year 6's, hence the decision that has been made. Our students must be considered in every decision we make, and this last year of their primary school is certainly no exception.

Both Lisa and Donna will still have their other commitments to their other roles with Lisa being the Deputy Principal and Donna our Learning and Teaching Leader. I would like to thank Lisa and Donna for their commitment to our students and their education.

This weekend we are celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with our Year 6's. Today our Year 6 students came together for their Reflection Day. Such a special event for our young leaders of the school. We are also blessed to have Bishop Greg with us today and this weekend to celebrate Confirmation with our students. A big thanks to Noleen Chalmers and the Year 6 teachers for their preparation of the children.

Take care and God Bless

Meg

Girls school uniforms and make up

Please ensure that the girls Winter uniforms are of an appropriate length. Dresses need to be just above the knees. Students will be spoken to if the uniform is deemed to be inappropriate for school. And NO make-up is to be worn. If the girls wish to wear something on their lips, it MUST be a clear gloss and not coloured. It will be confiscated if found and returned at the end of the day.

Just a reminder that school shoes need to be worn and not runners please. We have a second-hand uniform shop that is available to all families if they need. This is open on Thursday afternoons or by appointment. Please contact the office.

Donations

In order to support our P and F committee, I am asking if there are families and businesses out there who are able to donate items that can be used for future raffles.
